Independent Contractors vs. Employee

01/03/10

Be Aware of the Pitfall.  The IRS has established 20 factors in determining if an individual is classified as a Independent Contractor or an Employee.  Even if you have a signed contract denoting the individual as a Independent Contractor, the court system can reclassify this relationship to be Employee-Employer.  Hence, this opens the employer up to additional liabilities, taxes, and penalties.  Contact our office to find out how we can help you protect your business.
